Life..
Worked my first day at Systembolaget (the state-controlled company for the sale of alcoholic beverages) today.. It was more or less the same things going on as last time. Some new wines to learn about and new labels to remember. Other than that it was easy to get back into the old routines. I even had my old codes left (OK, I had forgotten which they were, but still..)
It's amazing how little Grebbestad has changed.. I know that I haven?t been away all that long, but with everything that I experienced in SF it sure feels like half a lifetime.. But no, people here are still in the same feuds, relationships, jobs a.s.o. as they were when I left. Well, that was unfair of me, both Jenny and Reidun (at work) had new hairdos.. =)
Ok, time to lighten up.. =D Coming home has brought a lot of joy as well. Yesterday I met one of my very best friends. What a reunion it was! We talked for hours. It felt so good to be able to hug him again. I guess that you don't always realise how much you've missed someone until you meet again.
Today I've met even more old friends and acquaintances. Working at Systembolaget is great that way, sooner or later you get to meet everyone.. Look forward to make some small trips to visit other friends as well (mostly in Gothenburg and Stockholm). The rest of the bunch is out travelling, so I guess that I'll have to wait to see them until they return again.
And.. some sad news.. My old neighbour growing up has battled cancer since she was 10 years old. (6yrs ago..) Of course this has been an immense struggle for the whole family and we've all prayed for her recovery.
She recently underwent a bone marrow treatment of some kind, which seemed to work really well. She also met lots of new friends at her new school and things were finally starting to improve. Sadly this bone marrow treatment had its side effects, epileptic attacks among others. So, this Monday morning, when her parents went into her room to wake her up, they found her lifeless. She had passed away during the night..
I also just learned that one of my old classmate?s dad recently passed away as well. As if this is not enough, my old boyfriend's grandmother died last weekend.
In addition to this, my very close friend lost his dad last year (and his mom passed away almost 7yrs ago). The poor guy is the same age I am.. He's still struggling to visit the grave & the day of his fathers passing is coming up in just a few weeks.
There are a lot of things happening right now that really makes you put your own life on pause for a few minutes to revaluate a lot of things & become so much more grateful for what you have.
From now on I'll be posting inputs and texts like these on my blog instead of sending you guys e-mails. That way you can drop in and look if you feel like it instead of getting mail harassed.. ;) Hope that everything is great in San Francisco. Miss the city and all of you.. But life is pretty good here as well. =)

Oh, I almost forgot. Visited my sister in Uddevalla yesterday. She still lives in my old apartment. She moved in with me when she started school & we lived together for a year. During that period we bought a huge picture of a lit-up bridge with a big city in the background. I loved it and so did my sister. This picture still hangs in her living room. Giving it a quick look I realized that it was The (Emelie) Bay Bridge!! Isn?t that weird..?
